Can bulimia cause cavities?

I brush my teeth reguarly, twice a day, and I just got back from the dentists and I have 8 (small) cavities! What gives? I have poor eating habits, and was bulimic for about a month, then I stopped and am normal again, but how come I have cavities? Can bulimia cause this??? Thanks

Can bulimia cause cavities?
Poor eating habits elating to WHAT you eat can dause cavities- too much sugar and too much stomach acid will combine to slowly eat away at the enamel of the teeth. Bulimia- bingeing, then purging, especially if your purging involves vomiting will cause you to have cavities, because of the stomach acid and bile that comes up when you vomit. These are very dangerous to the enamel of your teeth, as well as your esophagus. I urge you to please get treatment. Not only your teeth, but those who love you will be glad you did. Just because you stopped does not mean you are "normal again". I advise psychotherapy. Your local Community or County Health Services Board can help you access the help you need. Look in the Blue Pages- the Government Listings in your phone book. Good Luck
Reply:Yes. Bulimia can cause tooth enamel to break down, and that could lead to cavities.

It's because of acid from the stomach.
Reply:Vomit is very acidic and can damage your teeth if they were not brushed afterwards.
Reply:NO! the vomiting is what causes them, (because of the acid)
