First off for some reason everyone panics about the dentist. And they dont need too. You can request nitrous oxide(laughing gas) to help you relax. You cannot eliminate a cavity on your own. If you neglect to get it fixed they will only get worse and turn into a bigger procedure than a simple filling. Of course they need to put the teeth to sleep to work on them but thats a little pinch and after that you shouldnt feel a thing! Good Luck!
Reply:Don't sweat it, the anticipation and reservation you feel is normal...its not the greatest thing in the world but its certainly not the worst you will be just fine...dentists have had a lot of practice over the years. But if i was talking to your grandpa when he was a boy id tell him to run away....
Reply:A cavity is decay, meaning bacteria sat on your tooth and ate it. You cannot "remove" it yourself unless you know how to mix IRM, and being a dental student, I can tell you it's HARD to mix IRM. To prevent cavities in the future, make sure you're brushing properly. This doesn't mean to quickly brush, you need to thoroughly spend time brushing or you won't remove all the plaque. Plaque turns to calculus, which only a hygentist can remove. As for the restorations, the dentist will numb you. Your jaw will be a little numb for a few hours, don't drink through a straw or try to eat until the numbness subsides.
Reply:it doesent hurt at all..

you will be numb.

the shot is what hurts the most.

then u wont feel anything
