Tooth cavities?

ok so heres the deal ive been getting cavities forever and i have all my permanent teeth but the thing is i always brush my teeth and use mouth wash . why am i getting cavities one of my friends said it was from me grinding my teeth is this true?

Tooth cavities?
It could just be hereditary. I have bad teeth, tons of cavaties and three root canals. I brush atleast 3 times a day floss, and rinse with mouth wash. Of course the amount of soda I drink probably doesnt help. Any time you eat or drink anything sweat try to atleast rinse with water.
Reply:You may just have soft teeth that are prone to getting cavities.

here is a website about teeth grinding..

Reply:You need to add flossing to your dental routine.

And it could be just hereditary.
Reply:U cant get cavities from grinding your teeth. To prevent cavities you need to cut back on sugary foods and foods that have 'secret' sugars (bake beans, tomato ketchups) and brush your teeth after every meal. Also mints, boiled sweets, chewing gum can be bad stuff to your teeth,as u tend to eat these kind of sweets throughout the day means theres always sugar on your teeth, which is causin the cavities. Also regular 6month check ups are needed. Talk to your Dentist he/she will give you some more info on lookin after your teeth or see a Dental hygeniest. Hope this info helps you,Im a dental Nurse :-D
Reply:You dont get cavities from grinding your teeth, so your friend is wrong on that score.

Tooth decay is called "Caries" and it's caused by Acid, which forms on the surface of the teeth and will dissolve away the tooths enamel and dentine to eventually produce a cavity.

Bacterial Plaque is a common cause of cavities, everybody has millions of harmful bacteria inside their mouths and this bacteria loves to feed upon the food/drink which we eat, the food we eat stick to our teeth and along with the bacteria will produce the soft, sticky plaque, the bacteria in the plaque will turn sugar into acid which will attack the enamel of the tooth resulting in a cavity!

Sugar is also a common factor, there are 3 food groups, Protein, fats%26amp; carbohydrates, out of these 3 only the carbohydrates can be turned into acid and cause caries, the sugar comes under Refined Carbohydrate.

To reduce the risk of cavities/caries you really need to watch the sugar intake, you'd be suprised at how much sugar is in the foods we eat on a daily basis and dont be fooled by the claim on some food packaging that says "no added sugar" it does contain sugar found naturally within the product, it simply means there is no artificial sweetners added.

A good oral hygiene routine is also very important, you need to brushing at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, flossing is a must as it will remove a multitude of sins from between the teeth, and a good mouthwash helps.

Regular visits to your dentist is very important as he/she can detect early signs of decay and stop them in their tracks.

Hope this has been of some help
Reply:I have the same problem. I never drink soda and I try to stay away from sugary foods. I constantly brush, use mouth wash and floss somewhat regularly. I believe I just have soft teeth, which I consider a heredity problem.
