Gingivitis? cavities? PLEASE HELP!!?

So I have braces, and this one tooth towards the back is kinda bothering me cause it bleeds whenever i floss it and it smells really bad. there's a band around it so i can't see it. but when i try to "feel" under the band w/ my nails, i can't seem to reach the teeth; my nail just keeps cutting in. i can't tell if i'm just going deeper into the gums or if i have a hole! it doesn't really hurt...

do i have gingivitis and/or cavities??

i asked my dentist, but she said she can't tell until my braces are removed. but my braces won't be removed for at least another 8 months!!! i'm really worried the tooth will decay and fall out!

Gingivitis? cavities? PLEASE HELP!!?
get superfloss or the blue loop floss threaders to floss the tooth well, also proxy brushes and Listerine. I sounds like decay. X-rays no help at all?
Reply:Your dentist needs to take a panoramic x-ray of the jaw to see if any abscess has formed. If this is the case, you may need a course of antibiotics.

In the meantime, rinse for one minute each night with Listerine and make sure you get back there with the toothbrush.

Good luck.
Reply:If you can, use a water pik to get back there and blast out anything that might be caught in or around the band. Try not to use your nails as that can make it worse, and introduce new bacteria. Keep flossing (regular flossing will reduce the bleeding) and brushing well, try using Listerine a couple times a day (we like Vanilla Mint) and hope for the best. If anything you might have a cavity, but gingivitis is a widespread disease...it doesn't only affect one tooth.
Reply:if theres a bad smell that means there is decay.

Could be gums or tooth~

can you floss?

Best thing to do would be brushing after meals ( i know duh haha) flossing if you can, but a REALLY good idea would be to start rising a min of 30 seconds after every meal with listerine, it kills everything and will help with whatever is going on in there. The longer you can rinse the better off your mouth will be.

good luck
