How come some people get cavities and some people don't...?

I get cavities year after year. I have cavities on every tooth except the a few. I get more cavities on the top then on the bottom why... Is some people more prone to cavities are we born with the cavities dna (genetic factor). How do you prevent them. What tooth paste is the best?

How come some people get cavities and some people don't...?
Some people don't have problems with their teeth becuase they have strong enamel. I have poor enamel because as a baby I got sick and the medicine they gave me destroyed it. So I get more cavities than others.

What I suggest is going to your dentis or something and buy flourite wash. Its just a liquid that you swish around in your mouth and it makes your teeth stronger. AND BRUSH YOUR TEETH EVERY DAY!! and make sure you really brush them, not just some quick sweep.
Reply:you can have "sealants" put on your molars to prevent cavities. it is like a pre-emptive filling that prevents crap from getting into the deep crevises of your teeth. talk 2 the dentist. bye bye
Reply:I use Crest something or another. Just make sure you brush every morning and night. Make sure you floss, mouthwash in the morning, and that cavity-preventing mouthwash at night. That's what my dentist tells me haha.
Reply:Getting a cavity is not a simple process, there are many things that influence whether or not you get them. These things include

*How much saliva you have in your mouth (low saliva rate can increase your risk of decay)

*The amount and frequency you consume fermentable carbohydrates (sugar) or consume acidic foods or beverages

*How often you clean your teeth (you should brush at least twice daily and floss daily) with a fluoride toothpaste

Everyone has bacteria in their mouth and we are all different. There are specific bacteria that cause decay. So if you want to prevent decay you need to either reduce the quantity of bacteria in your mouth (CLEANING) or reduce their food supply (SUGAR).

If you have such a high rate of decay you should think about using a daily neutral fluoride rinse (make sure it is not an acidic one).
