Can Orbit Gum Cause Cavities?

I have bad breath so I always have an Orbit Gum in my mouth. Can Orbit Gum Cause Cavities?

Can Orbit Gum Cause Cavities?
No, Orbit gum will not cause cavities. Orbit is sugarfree and it contains xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar substitue that has been shown to damage the bacteria that cause cavities so the bacteria cannot create acid. When you can't brush, Orbit and other gums with xylitol can actually help prevent caviites. But it should not be substituted for regualar brushing and flossing.
Reply:If it has sugar in it, then it could.

I never looked at the ingredients.
Reply:Any high sugar gum will cause cavities if that is all you ever put in your mouth and never perform proper oral hygiene.
Reply:it depends on the kind of sugar which is in gum...for example it has been proved that Xylitol can reduce caries so it is recommended to chew a xylitol gum after lunch if your toothbrush wasnt available ...becuase it can reduce the time of coming back to the normal PH in mouth enviroment...
Reply:It shouldn't. It's sugar free
Reply:Sugar is actually not the main thing that causes cavities. Starch is. Sugar actually helps your mouth produce more saliva which naturally cleans your teeth. Starch sticks to teeth and thats the worst culprit for starting cavities.
Reply:No it won't cause cavities. I love Orbit gum, cinnamint is my favorite. Sugar is sugar. Bacteria+food=acid which causes decay. Starch breaks down into sugar.
