Why did I get so many cavities when I was little?

When I was young, I got soooooo many cavities. Every Dentist appointment, they would say I have about 3-4. Why do young kids have so many cavities?

It could have been anything from not having good flouride in your water to not brushing good enough. But the liklihood of getting cavities is a genetic thing. Parents who get cavities easily have kids who get them easily as well. It has to do with the strength of the tooth enamel and the formation of the teeth (because weird gaps that you can not brush are more sucspetible to cavities). Your permenant teeth must have thicker, stronger enamel if you don't get them nearly as often. Or you just brush better now :)
Reply:i had 1 when i was younger so i'm pretty sure you dont brush your teeth...scummer...
Reply:I am guessing your brushing habits and your diet. Sugar and not flossing will cause cavities.

As you get older, your teeth and mouth change too. But more importantly, your eating habits change.
Reply:because small children don't have good brushing habits, and since baby teeth are going to fall out anyway no one is really concerned very much.
Reply:Most likely your sugar intake, snacking, poor oral hygiene, lack of fluoride. Too many factors to consider.
