Generally cavities don't cause bad breath unless they are very large and trapping food. The bacteria that cause gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis) are far more likely to cause bad breath. Also, there can be bacteria in the stomach called helicobacter pylori which can not only cause bad breath, but they can cause ulcers as well. Although your tongue may appear clean, you must make sure that it is thoroughly brushed at least 2 times per day and that it has a pink, slightly fuzzy appearance. If it has a whitish, brownish, or yellowish coating, OR if the fuzzy appearance begins to look hairy or stringy, you aren't brushing it thoroughly enough. Once you can eliminate your mouth as the source, and you are still having bad breath problems, you should consult a physician about the problem. Best of luck.
Reply:My son has horrible bad breath...he has digestive issues...and unless he takes digestive enzymes (it helps food dissolve and become digestible and not just rotting in his gut, causing a toxic gut), his breath is really rank...When he takes them, it controls his breath pretty good...even though I think it is a big part of his breath...I don't think it is the only thing...so we are checking out this web site that my husband heard about on the radio...I am giving you the link...Good luck.
