My toddler has cavities....should i??

My 2 yr old has 5 cavities. not too sure how he got them, doesn't eat much sweets, brush his teeth...but dentist said soda pop probably done it. my question is: should we do the procedure to get them fixed? they're baby teeth...should we just wait? the procedure will put him to sleep. and they will fix his teeth...but eventually he will lose them. what do i do???

My toddler has cavities....should i??
HELLO,

FYI THE HEALTH OF BABY TEETH WILL ALSO AFFECT PERMANENT TEETH. PAIN FROM CAVITIES ON BABY TEETH CAN LEAD TO MUCH NEEDLESS PAIN AND SUFFERING.

CHILDREN WILL USUALLY LOSE ALL THEIR BABY TEETH BY THE TIME THEY'RE 12. NOT HAVING PROPER DENTAL CARE IN THE EARLY YEARS WILL DETERMINE THE OVERALL OUTCOME OF THEIR ORAL HEALTH.

DIETARY INTAKE IS A KEY. SODA THAT IS BOTH ACIDIC AND SWEET IS TERRIBLE FOR GROWING TEETH.

aka, cut down drastically of the soda.
Reply:If you do not get the cavities filled then the decay will continue to get bigger. Primary(baby)teeth can get infected when the decay gets into the nerve of a tooth just like permanent teeth can. It is important that you have this taken care of when they are small.
Reply:You should do the procedure since the cavities might affect the future permanent teeth.
Reply:yes get them fixed.otherwise the decay will continue, not a pretty sight, and may become painful for the little fella.

my daughter had crowns put on when she was two so i know how you feel. but ,dont be afraid. its done all the time, and its best in the long run.
Reply:If you're dentist is telling you they need to be done then you really should do it. our 2 year old will need those teeth for a long while yet. Remember you don't lose teeth until you are 5 or 6. Not to mention it can harm the teeth that will be erupting. You shouldn't give you kids juice or soda %26amp; never let them fall asleep with milk in a bottle. There is LOTS of sugar.
Reply:Yes, get them fixed. If the cavities become too big, than an infection can develop and cause pain. Even though the teeth will eventually fall out, this will not happen until at least 6 years. The main function of baby or primary teeth is to hold space for proper eruption of adult teeth. When adult teeth come in crooked, there is more work to straighten them later.
