Can you make cavities better?

is it possible to like remineralise cavities if they are small and just a little grey spot, cos i have a little one i think..and i am giving up pepsi and coke for the new year and using mouthwash, what else can i do, i have a dentist appointment in feb so want it away by then! i so far have no fillings, and would really like to keep it that way!

Can you make cavities better?
If the decay hasn't past through the enamel into the dentin, you may be able to have re-mineralization occur by keeping the area clean with brushing and flossing thoroughly. The area will be weak from loss of enamel so you will have to really keep a watch on it. Its also possible that this grey area may be just stain, the hygienist will take an x ray of the area to determine if its stain or decay.
Reply:yeah the grey spot mayjust be a stain. if it is, can be removed by polishing it. if its a decay and cavitated (there's a hole), it needs to be filled up.if its not cavitated, yr dentist may be able to apply some fluoride to help remineralise it, eg. using duraphat etc..
