Why don't scientists create a vaccine against dental cavities?

Cavities are painful and expensive. Sometimes people get them even when they brush and floss everyday. Wouldn't it be great if they create a vaccine to help prevent dental cavities? Or, are they already working on it?

that would be great - but until - you can get a sealer on your teeth that help prevent cavities.
Reply:Brush your teeth and floss and keep them clean. Then people wouldn't have the problem of affording to fix them!
Reply:They are working on that issue. Make sure that you are using fluoridated tooth paste or a fluoride rinse. If you are on a well your water is not fluoridated leaving you more susceptible to cavities.
Reply:That's all we need, another vaccines added to the list of junk injected in our bodies. I would prefer to just take care of my teeth: brush, floss, and don't eat junk foods, over-processed foods, and heavily refined sugars.
Reply:Scientists have. Pfizer has created and conditionally licensed a vaccine for Porphomonas gingavalis a bacteria responsible for gum disease and bone degrading. However, it is only for dogs at this point :)
