Getting cavities filled..followed by throbbing pain?

I had 6 cavities filled 3 one month ago and the others were filled in September. I have been in pain... Throbbing pain recently. I did purge on Saturday night but what could be causing the pain? I'm making another appointment, but what is the cause for the pain you think?

Getting cavities filled..followed by throbbing pain?
In my experience that throbbing you are feeling is because the tooth is now sealed...so if there is any infection in there it is under pressure. The body can eventually deal with that by building a fistula (a small tubular canal created from the point of pressure to the gum tissue) to allow the pressure to release. It is like a gum boil, and feels like you have some food caught inside your gum.

It is good that you are going back in. I expect your Dentist will x-ray to insure the tooth isn't cracked and to see what is going on in there.

There are some cases where one can be so sensitive to the dental work that the body sends its fighting cells to combat what it thinks is an infection. That fluid would create pressure and the throbbing pain.

Good Luck! Don't be afraid to get a 2nd opinion!
