Is there a way to clean your cavities?

I just wondering if there is a way to clean cavities at home. If one has a developing cavity and he wants to keep that area clean to prevent further damage, how can he go about doing it? Does sticking brush bristles into the cavity help? Or does it make it worse?

Is there a way to clean your cavities?
Brushing well and using fluoride to keep the cavity from progressing further will only be effective if the decay is small and has not gone through the enamel. Once the decay is through the enamel the soft layer underneath the enamel (called dentin) will decay very quickly. If your dentist has recommended getting the cavity filled it is probably past fluoride and brushing well. You can and probably should adopt good brushing and flossing habits and use a daily fluoride rinse to help prevent future cavities though!
Reply:There are no effective home remedies for cavities. You need to see a dentist and get some fillings.

If you don't go to the dentist, the acids can continue to make their way through the enamel, and the inside parts of your tooth can begin to decay.

Hope this helps!
Reply:a cavity is just another word for a hole (or decay) in the tooth. the only treatment for this is to fill the area. HOWEVER, you *can* off-set any FURTHER decay by tending to the area well -- brushing after eating and using mouthwash 1-2x/day. you can't undo what's already been done, but you CAN prevent it from getting any worse.
Reply:going to the dentist is the only way to keep it from worsening
Reply:If the cavities are not bad, you can scrub them good and it will help get rid of the cavity. also, use act moutwash
Reply:Brushing with a fluoride toothpaste will help, if the cavity is small
